You will have the option of filling out new patient paperwork before your first visit to expedite your intake. Any remaining paperwork will be completed during the allotted 90 minutes for your first visit.
Please reflect on any medical conditions you may have including diagnosed conditions, previous injuries, and current medical complaints. This will be helpful for your treatment course

Please bring comfortable clothing that is flexible. Workout clothes are recommended. If your clothes are restrictive, it will limit the effectiveness of the treatment.
You will be asked to remove belts, shoes, and any items out of your pockets during your visit. Head coverings and hats may also need to be removed, depending on the treatment area.
You can expect a thorough physical exam, followed by a gentle, hands-on treatment using Osteopathic techniques. This may require touching sensitive areas including hip bones, ribs, or necks. If you are uncomfortable at any point, please let your discomfort be known.
You will be asked to change positions during your visit from standing to sitting, or laying down. If you are unable to accommodate any positions, please let us know.

You will be given after-care instructions in person following your visits. This typically involves taking it easy for a few days, drinking lots of water and limiting heavy lifting.
The goal of osteopathic treatments is not to reduce pain, it is to remove restrictions in movement and function. Pain relief, is a common response to treatments, but may not be immediate. Your body is still working through the treatment, even after you leave the office, and you may find further relief even a few days or weeks after the visit.
Treatments typically “stack” on the previous ones and you may not need the same areas treated between visits. You will be re-assessed during each visit for your new areas of greatest restriction to determine what needs to be treated.
It is common to have new areas of pain or concern appear between visits. This does not necessarily mean OMM is not a good fit for you, or that you are “backsliding”. This is considered a normal response to treatment.
It is recommended to make lifestyle changes between visits to maintain the results of the treatment, which include drinking more water, getting more physical activity, eating more whole foods such as fruits and veggies, getting adequate sleep, reducing stress, and more. These are not only important for a healthy and happy life, but will also affect the effectiveness of treatment. The better you take care of your body, the better it will take care of you.
Please keep note of your symptoms between visits to be discussed during your next visit.
If you have any concerns, or any new symptoms between visits, please contact Dr. Bomani-Bailey using your patient portal.
